bust out your crayons

I'm leaving this up because it's what comes up in Google, but they're are last year's dates.  If you go here , I made one with squares so you can write in the correct dates! Seriously, one of these months I'll get the calendar out before  the month actually starts. Anyway, I hope you love December as much as I do.  Where we're at, we've had at least 17" of snow already, and made a snow-woman out of it!  So, have lots of fun this month in the snow if you've got it!  You can even color the snow with food coloring and water.  How fun is that?  You can also check out the Snowman books (Snowmen at Night, Snowmen at Christmas, and Snowmen All Year) by Caralyn and Mark Buehner.  I love them, and my girls love them.  So, there's lots to do this month.  Anyway, bust out your crayons and enjoy!  Happy December! In keeping with the Thanksgiving spirit, I thought I'd post a thank you card for policemen.  I am truly grateful for all the people who sacrifice to make my life safer and better.  They should never go unappreciated.  So, bust out your crayons and go thank a policeman! :) Outside: You work hard each day to make sure we're ok, You protect all our homes and the places we play. You watch over our friends and our families too... Inside: I just wanted to say, "Thanks!"  For all that you do! *Just remember if you want this to print out right, you have to save the image/download it first. If you print straight from the blog it will be all off center and weird :S

So here's my first attempt at some sort of craft.  It seems a little random, but I'm part of a pre-school co-op and I was in charge of an 'H' lesson.  Since Hippo and Hat both start with H, I wanted to make a hippo hat.  Turns out, those are amazingly hard to find.  So, I made my own and just thought I'd share.  We actually used this as a pattern and made the hats out of foam sheets and googly eyes. Directions: 1. Color! (If you think it's boring because hippos are grey, they don't have to be!) 2. Cut out shapes 3. Attach the ears.  The ears can either just be glued on top or cut a v where the v's are and stick them through. 4. Glue on eyes 5. Fold the teeth on the dotted line and glue to the underside of the brim. 6. Punch out the holes near the back and use a piece of yarn to tie around your child's head. 7. You're done!  You're child is now a hippo.  Enjoy!

Sorry for all the posts this week, I just needed to get caught up!  Since Halloween is fast approaching, (a little too fast if you ask me...) I thought it would be fun to do 5 Little Pumpkins.  It always seems to be 5 Little somethings doesn't it?  Anyway, hopefully this will help get you in the Halloween spirit if you're not already :)  Bust out your crayons and enjoy! 5 Little Pumpkins Five little pumpkins sitting on a gate. The first one said, "Oh, my it's getting late!" The second one said, "There are witches in the air." The third one said, "But we don't care!" The fourth one said, "Let's run! Let's run!" The fifth one said, "Isn't Halloween fun?" Then "Woooooo," went the wind,  And out went the lights. And five little pumpkins rolled out of sight.

These felties go with the book "The Very Hungry Caterpillar".  My kids love this book, and hopefully yours do too!  So, bust out your crayons and enjoy :)

So, I saw this calendar at the store that I fell in love with, and decided I'd see what I could do to create my own.  This is where it took me. I made these all into magnets out of the free ones I get from businesses all the time.  (just mod podge them and cut them out) I bought a dry erase board which will be my background, write "Today is..." on the top.  You can probably get where it goes from there.  There are tons of these kinds of calendars out in the world of expenditure, I'm just cheap.  So, if you're cheap like me, bust out your crayons and enjoy!  P.S.  You obviously don't just have to use them for a calendar, you can use them for whatever suits your fancy, just have fun :) Yes, I know my clouds are red.  That's what you get when you let your 4 year old color them! :)

I'm back with a felt board story.  These pages go with a super cute book called Chicken Cheeks by Michael Ian Black.   It's not so much a story as it's a bunch of different names for bums.  But I love it, and my girls love it.  He even has a quirky, little preview of the book  here .  So, if you haven't read it, go check it out at the library, read, laugh, bust out your crayons, and stack 'em up :)
